We have built another completely automated contract galvanizing plant in Estonia, in close collaboration with our partner KVK Koerner. The new plant is on the Paldiski peninsula, directly at the Baltic Sea in front of the gates of the national capital Tallinn. Approximately 8,000 tons of steel are automatically galvanized since spring of 2009 in a zinc kettle with a length of 7.0 m, a width of 1.5 m and a depth of 2.8 m.
The company, OBO Bettermann, a leading manufacturer of 30,000 articles for the areas of electrical installation, has the main place of business in Menden in the Sauerland und has approximately 2,100 employees. The company operates two galvanizing plants for its own requirements. One of the two galvanizing plants is located in the immediate neighbourhood in Iserlohn/ Sümmern, the other is in Bugy, Hungary.
The hot dip galvanizing plant in Groningen (Netherlands) exists since 1953. Due to the very long working life of the existing system, the ever-increasing market for shop galvanization products and the escalating environmental requirements, the company management decided in 2006 to build a new hot dip galvanization plant.
The company group Karger, lead today by Uli, Peter and Wolfgang Karger, the sons of the founder, operated two galvanizing plants up to the start of 2008. One at the location in Illertissen, the other in Hüttlingen. The company had orders in 2007 which allowed it to decide on the extension of the existing capacity by building an additional works, because of extremely good customer relationships and a highly motivated team – Karger is quite rightly proud of this.
At least since our lead article in Issue 12, readers of the Scheffer News know that Scheffer has long since been a partner in demand in Russia for complex crane systems, especially for the modern galvanizing plants being established there.
